Police warn parents about kids as young as 10 throwing food and furniture and swearing at a McDonald's

Police have sent a warning out to parents that children as young as 10 are gathering in large groups and throwing food and furniture around, as well as assaulting security guards, at a town centre McDonald's branch. They are also said to be using 'disgusting' language with adults having to tell them off for this.

In a post by Greater Manchester Police's Middleton team they warned parents that they will easily be able to identify any children causing problems at this spot. Problems range from throwing furniture and food, assaulting security staff, and using bad language, as they 'feel confident' when in large groups.

Police say they have gathered CCTV footage from the spot, and that children will be identified through local schools. Any criminal complaints that have been reported are being investigated, the force said.

Parents have been encouraged to contact police if their children feel they are 'hard done by' by being asked to leave the spot by officers or McDonalds staff with neighbourhood officers 'happy to show' the CCTV footage to parents to show them the issues.

The GMP Middleton police spokesman said: "Plea to parents. If you think your child might be congregating outside McDonalds on the town centre could you please assist us and advise them of some issues a small minority are causing there.

"Feeling confident in their large groups, children aged as little as 10 or 11 years and ranging up to 15 old are throwing furniture and food around and assaulting security guards etc. When asked to leave I think parents will be disgusted at the poor grasp of the English language that some of them have. It is a sad state of affairs when other diners/parents are having to tell off these kids for their language.

"We have CCTV footage of the children and will easily be able to identify them via our contacts at the local schools they attend, but if any of your children come home this even feeling hard done to by the McDonalds staff or by the Police for asking them to leave then feel free to contact us on 0161 856 8701. Officers from the Neighbourhood team will be only too happy to show the CCTV to you and discuss the issues.

"Any criminal complaints reported to us will be being dealt using the CCTV we have and the identifications we will be able to obtain. Thank you for your help."
