Police warn officers are patrolling roads near Edinburgh primary schools this week

Police have warned they are cracking down on drivers on roads near Edinburgh primary schools.

Community officers have been carrying out patrols at "various primary schools" this week, say police.

Officers shared a from photo outside St Peter's RC Primary School, in Morningside, where they had been carrying out checks on Friday.

In a statement, Edinburgh Police said: "This week your community officers have been carrying out patrols outside various primary schools.

"Yesterday they were at @St_Peters_Edin. We will continue making sure our children get to school safely, and you can help by driving and parking responsibly."

It comes as police caught seven speeding drivers in the Saughton area and pulled over eight more.
