Police warn of recent South Shore robberies

Police are asking residents to be aware of their surroundings.

A man with a gun approached someone and took their property in each of the four robberies.

Police are warning South Siders about a spate of robberies reported this month in South Shore.

A man approached someone, pulled out a handgun and demanded property in each incident, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The robberies happened:

  • About 10:55 a.m. May 6 in the 2100 block of East 74th Street
  • About 8:40 a.m. May 15 in the 2000 block of East 74th Street
  • About 10:10 p.m. May 25 in the 7400 block of South Merrill Avenue
  • About 1:45 a.m. May 26 in the 7400 block of South Jeffery Boulevard

The suspect is described by police as a man between 18 and 26 years old, standing 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and weighing 175-190 pounds.
