Police warn of Leeds United 'traffic chaos' at Elland Road on Saturday - with reduced parking for fans

Police have issued a warning for fans planning to watch Leeds United play in the first home game of the new season.

With LUFC set to take on Everton today (August 21), there will be many fans heading to Elland Road to watch the match.

But West Yorkshire Police have warned fans to leave with plenty of time due to reduced parking and road closures.

The game will kick off at 3pm.

Police warned: "With the first home game of the new season tomorrow we just want to remind fans that with changes around the ground please leave yourselves plenty of time to arrive @EllandRoad and be in for kick off! "

To reiterate the point they added a series of hashtags, including #travelchaos, #newlayout and #reduced parking.

The police service explained what changes would be in place in the ground vicinity today.

"Pre match Lowfields Rd will be limited access/closed and post match the one way system will be in place on Elland Rd from 16:30ish for 45mins+," they wrote.

They also added that there would be reduced parking for fans.

"The vaccination centre on the park and ride car park behind the North Stand has taken a good number of space and the new cycle lane on Elland Road limits parking," the tweet read.

WYP advised fans to plan where to park or to take public transport.
