Nov. 20--Chicago police are warning residents in the Galewood and Montclare neighborhoods of a series of burglaries there in recent days.
A man is believed to have stolen from at least three homes since Nov. 12, most recently on Tuesday, according to an alert issued Thursday evening by Area North detectives.
The burglar or burglars are believed to have gone into the homes by either forcing open a door or going in through an unlocked window, according to police.
The burglaries took place:
Tuesday between 3:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Mulligan Avenue;
Monday between 10 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Nashville Avenue;
And Nov. 12 between 8 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Oak Park Avenue.
Police said that residents in an area from North to Armitage avenues and from Austin to Oak Park avenues should be on the lookout for burglars.
A man suspected of being the burglar was seen in the backyard of one of the homes. He's described as a black man with a light complexion, age 40 to 50, standing about 5-foot-10 and weighing about 180 pounds. He was bald.
