BRIEF: Police warn of burglaries in Washington Park

Dec. 02--Police are warning residents after at least eight burglaries have been reported in the Washington Heights neighborhood in the past two weeks.

The eight burglaries have taken place between Nov. 17 and Nov. 29, according to a police statement. In each instance, burglars entered residences through a rear door or window, police said.

No description is available, but the burglaries happened at the following locations in the same general area of the Washington Park neighborhood:

--5800 block of South Prairie Avenue on Nov. 17 between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

--5800 block of South Indiana Avenue on Nov. 18 between midnight and 2 p.m.

--5600 block of South Wabash Avenue on Nov. 20 between midnight and 11:50 a.m.

--5600 block of South Wentworth Avenue on Nov. 21 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

--100 block of East 58th Street on Nov. 22 between 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

--5700 block of South Prairie Avenue on Nov. 26 between midnight and 1 p.m.

--5600 block of South Wabash Avenue on Nov. 27 between midnight and 2 p.m.

--5700 block of South Michigan Avenue sometime between Nov. 28 and Nov. 29.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8382.
