April 22--Police are warning residents of a series of armed robberies that happened on the South Side during April.
Three incidents happened between April 6 and Saturday in the Bronzeville and The Gap neighborhoods, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.
In all three robberies, attackers came up to victims, displayed a handgun and demanded their property, the statement said.
The latest robbery occurred around 5:10 a.m. on Saturday in the 3100 block of South King Drive. The second robbery happened around 11:30 a.m. on April 12 in the 3400 block of South Michigan Avenue, and the third robbery took place around 4 p.m. on April 6 in the 3700 block of South Prairie Avenue, according to the statement.
One suspect is a black man who is between 18 and 25 years old. He is 6 feet tall, weighs between 160 and 210 pounds, and has a dark complexion and a short hair style. He was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to the statement.
A second suspect is a black man who is between 25 and 30 years old. He is between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-9 and weighs between 130 and 220 pounds. He has a medium complexion and dreadlocks, and he was wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to the statement.
Police encourage residents to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately to police.
If confronted by an attacker, residents should try to remember any unique physical characteristics.
