Jan. 13--Police are alerting residents on the North Side of three strong-arm robberies that happened over the past week.
The incidents occurred in the Uptown, Buena Park and Wrigleyville neighborhoods from Sunday to Thursday during early morning hours, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.
In each case, offenders approached victims when they were walking, struck or pushed them and then grabbed their wallets and purses, according to the statement.
The first robbery happened about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 4500 block of North Broadway, and the second incident occurred at 6:20 a.m. the same day in the 1000 block of West Buena Avenue, according to the statement.
The third robbery took place about 1:45 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of West Waveland Avenue.
Two or more offenders carried out each robbery, according to the statement. In the Broadway and Buena Avenue attacks, one offender is described as about 5-foot-8, 150 pounds and the other about 5-foot-5 and 130 pounds with beige pants.
In the other attack on Waveland Avenue, one offender is described as 5-foot-10 to six feet tall between 150 and 170 pounds while the other man was described as 5-foot-7 to six feet tall between 150 and 170 pounds.
Both men in both cases were described as black males wearing black jackets.
