A tourist was in such a rush to get down to Cornwall he was stopped for driving at 102mph on the A30, reports Cornwall Live.

The motorist was driving a BMW when they were stopped by police officers near Bodmin yesterday (May 28).

A "large influx of visitors" ahead of the Bank Holiday have been noted by Devon and Cornwall Police's No Excuse team.

Officers added in a tweet sent at around 12.30am today (May 29) that the person caught speeding in the BMW was a "little too eager".

A police spokesman said: "Lots of high visibility patrols on the A30 this afternoon with a large influx of visitors.

"One was a little too eager to get into Cornwall.

"A BMW was stopped near Bodmin for travelling at 102mph."

Officers added the hashtags 'No Excuse' and 'Fatal 5' to the tweet.

Heavy traffic has already been reported around Devon and Cornwall's roads this morning as Bank Holiday tourists head to the region.
