Police warn about 'dangerous' batch of drugs circulating in Llanelli

Police have warned a dangerous batch of a drug is circulating within an area of Wales.

Dyfed Powys Police said officers have received information that a batch of diazepam, first marketed under the trade name Valium and often known by that label, is circulating in Llanelli.

Officers said the drug could be "extremely dangerous" for anyone taking them and users should seek medical attention immediately if they become unwell.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “We have reasons to believe that the drugs being distributed and used in the Llanelli area at present could be extremely dangerous for anyone taking them.

“We would also appeal to drug users to seek medical attention immediately should they become unwell. Please share this information with anyone that you believe could come into contact with these drugs.”

In August, a sudden death and a hospitalisation in Merthyr Tydfil were thought to be linked to a "dangerous batch" of diazepam. You can read more about that here.

In an emergency, or if you think someone’s life is at risk, the police force has advised people to always dial 999.
