Police want to speak to this man after Green Party activist 'flung' at Bristol Temple Meads

Police are appealing for information after a Green Party campaigner was allegedly thrown to the floor at Bristol Temple Meads station.

Chris Millman, 60, was allegedly flung over a bike stand by the station’s rear entrance at about 6.30pm on May 23, the day of the European Elections.

He reported it to Avon and Somerset Police the following day. He told officers he was handing out leaflets when a man grabbed him by the jacket and threw him to the ground, causing a small cut to his finger.

The suspect is described as white, aged over 40, about 5ft 10ins tall, bald and wearing a black Adidas t-shirt.

Police want anyone who recognises the man pictured above to come forward.

Mr Millman thinks the alleged attack may have been a response to incidents of milkshake being hurled at politicians, he told Bristol Live last week.

He said: “I think that the people who have been throwing milkshakes over right-wing politicians should reflect that it is grass roots volunteers on the left who will face the consequences of the resulting escalation in political violence."

The activist told Bristol Live his alleged attacker was shouting about milkshakes and acid, as well as complaining that "passers-by were judging him because of his bald head".

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any other information which could help the police investigation is asked to get in touch through  www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact or by calling 101, quoting reference 5219115023.

Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They never ask your name or trace your call.
