A child was attacked after the Super League Grand Final in Old Trafford.
Police have released images of a man they want to speak with in connection to the assault on Saturday, October 12.
The child was attacked shortly after the final whistle of the Grand Final, which saw St Helens defeat Salford Red Devils.
Officers are asking anybody who recognises the man in the photographs to come forward.
He appears to be dressed in a St Helens team kit.
The age of the child involved has not been released.
A statement posted on the Greater Manchester Police Trafford South Facebook page said: "Officers are keen to speak to this male in connection to an assault against a child.
"The incident took place shortly after the final whistle of the Rugby League Grand Final between St Helens RFC and Salford Red Devils on the 12th October, 2019, at Old Trafford.
"Officers investigating the incident are now asking for the public’s help to identify the male pictured."
Anyone who has any information about the assault should call Greater Manchester Police on 101 quoting crime number CRI/06MM/0005562/19. Details can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
