Police want to speak to this man after burglar 'jumped out of window' in Bolton home

A burglar "jumped out of a window" after being startled by a confused homeowner.

The alleged offender was upstairs in a house on Brentford Avenue, Smithills, Bolton , when the occupant of the property returned home.

After hearing noises from upstairs, the victim shouted prompting the burglar to leap out of window and run away.

Police were called about the incident, which happened on Thursday, February 6, and have since circulated the image of a man they want to speak as part of their investigations.

In a post on GMP's Bolton North Facebook page, an officer said: "On Thursday February 6, 2020, police were called to reports of a burglary at a house on Brentford Avenue, Smithills.

"The occupant had returned home and heard noises coming from upstairs, before shouting and the burglar jumped out of the window and ran off.

"We are now appealing for the public's help to identify a male we would like to speak to in connection with this burglary."

Anyone with any information should call the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team on 0161 856 5761.

Alternatively, information can be passed on to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
