Police want to speak to this man after a cash machine theft outside Benton Asda

Do you recognise this man?

Police investigating a theft from a cash machine in Benton have released the image of a man they want to speak to.

Shortly before 8pm on February 28, police received a report of a theft from a cash machine from the Asda on Whitley Road, Benton.

A 39-year-old man was using the cash machine outside the store and after accidentally leaving the money behind, it has then been stolen from the machine.

Inquiries are ongoing into the incident, and police have now identified a man they would like to speak to in connection with the alleged theft.

He was known to have been in the supermarket at the time, and could have vital information that could assist officers with the investigation.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact Northumbria Police via 101 and quote reference number 962 28/02/19 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
