Police want to speak to these young people after city park knife attack

Police want to speak to three young people after a teenager was attacked outside a city park.

Three teenagers have already been arrested after the alleged knife attack - including a boy and girl, both aged just 13.

Police were contacted by crews from North West Ambulance Service alerting them that a boy, aged 15, had been assaulted outside Springfield Park in Knotty Ash.

The child suffered superficial wounds to his hand and abdomen consistent with a bladed weapon being used, officers said.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries just after 9pm on March 3.

Detectives have now issued CCTV photographs of three people they believe could have vital information to assist their enquries.

So far, three children have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 14-year-old boy from Halewood, a 13-year-old girl from Belle Vale and a 13-year-old boy from Woolton have since been released on conditional bail.

Detective Inspector Phil Mahon, of Merseyside Police, said: “The use of knives and bladed weapons on our streets is completely unacceptable, and we will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to bring those responsible for this incident to justice.

“We have already made significant progress during this investigation, and we are calling on the public to help identify those pictured who may be able to assist us further.

“If you are the people pictured, or know who they are, please contact police.”
