Police want help identifying burglary victims in Lincoln Park, Lakeview

Nov. 17--After a man with a lengthy criminal record was arrested in connection with a string of North Side burglaries this month, police are asking for help to identify his alleged victims.

Daunta Head, of the 5300 block of South Indiana Avenue, was arrested Nov. 8 and charged in connection with burglaries between July and November, according to a Chicago police statement.

Police said Head targeted garden apartments and multiunit buildings in the 19th District, which includes Lakeview and Lincoln Park. Head, 46, had pawned many of the items he allegedly stole, police said, but officers recovered jewelry, electronics and even a flute.

Specifically, detectives are asking for help to find the owner of a 1966 Fenger High School class ring with a red stone and "DJB" engraved on it, according to a police statement.

Head has been arrested repeatedly on residential burglary and related charges, including convictions in 2006, 1999 and 1998, court records show. He was sentenced to six years in 2006 for residential burglary.

This month, Head was charged with three felony counts of burglary and felony theft. He was in court last week and ordered held on $25,000 bail, according to court records.
