A police car has been badly damaged after attempting to stop an alleged stolen car in Blackley.

Officers were called at 5.30pm on Friday 13 November to Victoria Avenue, at the junction of Rochdale Road.

A suspected stolen car was stopped by officers at a set of traffic lights, and appears to have collided with the side of a police car, GMP said.

Pictures from the scene show a blue Renault Captur, which has come to a stop next to the police vehicle's driver side door.

A number of police cars have since arrived at the scene to assist with the incident.

Nobody is believed to have been injured in the crash.

The incident has caused a number of tailbacks along Victoria Avenue, as the road was blocked off by officers.
