Police van involved in smash with multiple vehicles while responding to 999 call in Salford

A police van was involved in a crash with multiple cars while officers were driving to a 999 call.

At least two other vehicles, including a black Mercedes, were also involved in the incident which happened at around 12.20pm on Partington Lane, Swinton.

Fortunately nobody was injured in the crash although the front end of the police van appeared heavily damaged.

Other officers were called and the road was closed for around an hour while the cars were cleared from the area.

A spokesman for GMP said: "At around 12.20pm on Friday, January 8, multiple vehicles collided on Partington Lane, Swinton.

"One of the vehicles was a police vehicle which was responding to a 999 call.

"No one was injured."

Police closed the road for around an hour to clear it. (MEN)

One of the cars involved in the crash is thought to have been parked on Partington Lane and was hit by another vehicle.
