Police urgently search for missing Edinburgh schoolgirls last seen in Slateford

Police have launched an urgent search for two missing Edinburgh schoolgirls who were last spotted in the Slateford area.

Shanelle Andrews, 15, and Sophie Smith, 14, were last seen at around 6.30am on Wednesday (6th May) in the Slateford Road area.

Shanelle is from the Fernieside area, while Sophie is from Gilmerton. The teens are thought to still be together.

Both of the girls also have links to Wester Hailes and the city centre areas.

Shanelle is described as a white Scottish female, approximately 5 foot 4 inches in height, medium build, with long, fair and blonde hair.

She was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket with a fur hood, a neon pink crop top hoodie, ripped blue denim jeans and black Nike trainers with white soles.

Sophie is described as a white Scottish female, approximately 5 foot 7 inches in height, medium build, with long, fair and blonde hair.

Officers say: "We are appealing for the public’s help as part of our efforts to trace two teenagers reported missing from the south side of the city.

"Anyone who may have seen either of the girls, or who has any information on her whereabouts, is urged to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 278 of the 6th May."
