Police urgently looking for 'confused' elderly woman filmed ringing doorbell at 3am

Police have issued an urgent appeal for help to track down an elderly woman who was filmed ringing a doorbell in a confused state at 3am.

Officers released the footage this morning which appears to show an unidentified woman seeming confused and trying the doorbell of a house.

In the video she is then seen to wander off, repeatedly looking around and back towards the doorway, while dressed in light clothing for a bitingly cold night.

In an appeal released on social media Coventry Police said: "We’re urgently trying to find this elderly woman who has been spotted in a confused state in Coventry this morning.

Officers are asking anybody who knows her to get in touch (West Midlands Police)

"She rang the bell of a home on Holyhead Road, Counden, just before 3am today [Wednesday] before walking away.

"Video from the doorbell shows she appears to be confused and not dressed for the weather.

"We have officers searching the area but do not have any reports of missing people."

The initial appeal has already been shared dozens of times and many on social media have expressed their sympathy.

Anthony Hall said: "Poor mite. Hope the lady is located, safe and well, very soon."

Muhammad Shahid Mahmood said: "May Allah bless her. Hope she is located safe and well."

Ian Hartwell said: "Bless her hope she is found safe and sound soon."

Officers said that anybody who recognises her or sees her should contact 999 and quote log 240 of 28 April.
