Police in Tayside are urging Perth and Kinross residents to be vigilant of doorstep crimes now COVID restrictions are easing.
The force has received “a number of calls” regarding individuals cold calling households offering to carry out maintenance work on their property.
The authorities predict that there is “likely be an increase” in these incidents over the course of the summer.
Tayside Police is also looking at carrying out joint investigations with the three local authority Trading Standards teams regarding the recent reported incidents.
A Tayside Police spokesperson said: “Due to easing of COVID restrictions and hopefully better weather, there will likely be an increase in these incidents, so all residents are reminded to be alert and also look out for vulnerable neighbours.
“We are carrying out joint investigations with the three local authority Trading Standards teams regarding these incidents.
“Whilst the incidents vary from roofing, external property maintenance, gardening, and selling of household products, members of the public should remember - never agree to work being carried out by cold callers, you will likely have no comeback if the work or goods are not to your satisfaction.
“If you need work done, and you do not know a tradesperson that you trust, please use your local authority approved traders schemes.”
