Police urge person seen filming on Edinburgh street where girl was attacked to come forward

Police in Edinburgh have appealed for witnesses after a ten-year-old child was attacked in the city.

Officers are looking for further information after the young girl was assaulted on West Norton Place in Abbeyhill.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 4pm on Monday (December 7), however the girl was left uninjured.

Today, police are hoping to contact a potential witness who they believe had been filming with their phone in the area just prior to the assault.

Anyone else with information regarding the incident is also urged to come forward.

Constable Craig Reid of Edinburgh City Centre Response, said: "West Norton Place is a small cobbled street off Easter Road and the area is usually busy with pedestrians.

Join our courts, crime and breaking news group for up-to-the-minute information about everything that's happening in Edinburgh.

"Our enquiries so far suggest a member of the public may have been filming using a mobile phone in the area prior to the incident.

"If this was you then you may have footage which could assist with our enquiries and we would urge you to get in touch as soon as possible.

"Anyone with any information about the incident can call 101, quoting incident 2331 of 7 December or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
