Police update on woman fighting for life after being hit by bus while crossing road

Police today gave an update after a pedestrian was left fighting for life after she was hit by a bus.

Emergency services were called to Seaforth Road, at the junction of Church Road in Seaforth, shortly be 6pm on Tuesday to reports of a crash between a pedestrian and a bus.

The woman was quickly rushed to hospital in an ambulance and was fighting for her life as police put road closures in place at the scene.

Today police confirmed the pedestrian was a woman in her 50s.

And a Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "A 56-year old woman remains critical."

Last night officers said the bus driver stopped at the scene to help police with their investigation after what police termed a "serious" accident.
 

Merseyside Police said they were called at 5.50pm on Tuesday to reports of a collision between a bus and a female pedestrian at the junction of Church Road and Seaforth Road.

A road closure had to be put in place and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
