Man killed in tragic crash after ploughing into fence trying to avoid car - police say his bike was taken from the scene

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died after ploughing into a fence while reportedly trying to avoid colliding with a car.

The rider was taken to hospital following the collision on Broom Lane, in Levenshulme, on Thursday, November 21.

Despite the efforts of medics, he later died. Officers are still searching for his motorbike, which was taken from the scene shortly after the crash.

It was reported to police the 21-year-old crashed into the fence because he was trying to avoid colliding with a black Hyundai.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

No arrests have been made.

Police Constable Philip Drummond, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident in which a young man has sadly lost his life.

“Our thoughts are with his family during this devastating time and our officers are working hard to find out more details about what happened during and after the collision.

“We are still searching for the motorcycle that was involved in the incident and was removed shortly after.

“If you were on or around Broom Lane at the time of the incident and may have heard or seen anything unusual or suspicious please contact police.

"Any dashcam or CCTV footage could prove invaluable in our search for more information.”
