Police update on girl brutally beaten over head with 'blunt object' in Leeds

Police have issued an update on a shocking attack in which a teenager was beaten over the head with a blunt object outside a Leeds shop.

The 16-year-old girl suffered head injuries in the attack in High Ash Drive, in Alwoodley, outside the Co-op on September 27.

An 18-year-old woman was arrested in connection to the attack.

Now West Yorkshire Police have confirmed they have released the suspect on bail.

Police said the teenager was left bruised with swelling to her head and was taken to hospital for a precautionary check.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and is now on bail.

A force spokesman said: “The woman arrested has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

“Anyone who saw the assault or who has any information about it is asked to call us."
