Police update as man left with life-threatening injuries in crash

A man continues to fight for his life in hospital after a collision in a Henbury crash hotspot.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a green BMW R800 motorbike and orange Ford Fiesta collided at the junction of Hallen Road and Avonmouth Way.

Two people were riding the motorbike at the time of the crash, just before 6.50pm on Friday (July 17).

One, a 19-year-old man, remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The other, a 15-year-old boy, was released from hospital after treatment. No-one else was hurt.

Police closed Hallen Road until about 12.30am on Saturday while collision investigators examined the scene and the vehicles were recovered.

Hallen Road and nearby Henbury Road have seen a spate of crashes in recent years.

Bristol City Council announced last week it was "urgently" considering options to address "clear safety concerns" in the area, after Bristol Live revealed there have been at least 11 recent crashes there.

So far, 140 people have signed our petition calling for speed bumps on Hallen Road and Henbury Road.

If have footage or any other information which could help the police investigation, get in touch here or by calling 101, quoting reference 5220159025.
