Police update after baseball bat attack on St Annes Drive, Headingley

Baseball bats were used as weapons during an assault on a Leeds street which has left "at least" one person injured.

St Annes Drive in Headingley was sealed off by police for most of today (Sun) following the assault, which is believed to have happened overnight.

Residents on the street woke up to a large cordon this morning, with some reporting to have heard "a loud bang" in the early hours.

The street remained shut until the early afternoon and Crime Scene Investigation officers were still on the scene at around 3pm.

Now West Yorkshire Police have confirmed the street was cordoned off following an assault which has led to "at least one" person being injured.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm that there has been an assault which involved baseball bats.

"There is at least one injured party but we are not sure of the nature of the injuries at this point."

Police were not able to confirm the exact time at which the assault took place or how many people were involved in total.
