Police update after armed police swoop on flats in Bristol

Police have issued an update after armed officers swooped on a block of Bristol flats.

Residents were shocked as a heavy police response was deployed to Lansdowne Court on Easton Road, in Easton.

A man was arrested by police at about 1.30pm on Saturday (October 16) after he reportedly displayed threatening behaviour.

But the man in his 50's has now been released without charge.

Several police vehicles were photographed at the scene, including armed officers.

Residents were witnessed stood outside the block of flats while the incident was ongoing.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "In relation to the Pountney Drive incident, following police enquiries, the arrested man has been released without charge."

Poilice said at the time of the incident: “We received a call from a member of the public at approximately 1.30pm today (Saturday, October 16) reporting a man was displaying threatening behaviour in the Poutney Drive area of Easton, Bristol.

“Due to the nature of the threat, armed officers were deployed to the scene."
