Police uncover 'sophisticated' cannabis farm during drugs raid near Wigan

Police uncovered a cannabis farm during a drugs raid near Wigan.

The discovery was made at a property on Fairstead in Skelmersdale on Saturday (August 28).

Officers say the “sophisticated cannabis cultivation”, which ran throughout the house, had an electrical wiring system which involved an electricity meter bypass.

More than 100 cannabis plants were seized, according to Skelmersdale Police.

In a statement, the force said: "Officers from the Neighbourhood Task Force along with your local Community Beat Managers and PCSO's have today executed a misuse of drugs warrant on Fairstead in Skelmersdale.

“Officers discovered a sophisticated cannabis cultivation set up throughout the property.

"The setup had an elaborate electrical wiring system which involved an electricity meter bypass. Over 100 cannabis plants were seized.

“Community intelligence is vital in tackling drugs. If you have any information, you can report this online via the Lancashire Police website or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers.”
