Police uncover hoard of stolen car parts at secret 'chop shop' in Bolton

Police uncovered a hoard of stolen car parts following a raid at a Bolton mill.

The search, on Tuesday (March 17) came as part of a crackdown on residential burglars targeting cars across the borough.

Parts from six stolen vehicles were found at the property in Carter Street, Great Lever.

On searching the unit, police discovered what appeared to be a 'chop shop'.

The cars are sometimes stolen to order, depending on what vehicle the chop shop wants to 'repair', according to officers.

If the parts aren’t used to repair an existing vehicle, the serial numbers are often removed and the parts are sold on to unwitting buyers.

“We will be working with our partners to continue the investigation.

“The net is closing in.
