Police trying to trace owners of ornaments snatched from Dumfries gardens

Police are trying to trace the owners of garden ornaments which were snatched in raids.

Officers have recovered a large quantity of animal figures and solar lights which are being stored at Loreburn Street Police Station.

The items were nicked from gardens in Burntscarthegreen, Locharbriggs, in an early morning swoop on May 7.

One resident lost more than 20 pieces which were valued at £1,300.

The thefts took place between 1am and 2am.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Some of these ornaments were big and would have been heavy to lift, meaning it’s possible that more than one person was involved.

“And it’s likely a vehicle was used to transport the ornaments.”

They asked anyone with information to contact PC Maxwell on 101.

Anyone who was a victim of the thefts can go to Loreburn Street to see if their property was recovered.

Cops are also looking for witnesses after windows were smashed at a house in Melbourne Avenue, Eastriggs, around 2am on Sunday.
