Police want to trace 'loitering man' after break-ins

A man spotted loitering outside a student halls of residence is wanted by police.

Officers are investigating a break-in at Simpsons Halls in Park Street, Nottingham, at around 7.20pm on Sunday, May 3.

A man was spotted "loitering outside the halls in a communal area for some time," before entering residential area by following a student through the locked door.

He left the building with a number of items at around 8.50pm, police said.

PC Imran Ahmed, of the St Ann’s Burglary Team, said: "We are currently investigating a series of burglaries at student accommodation in the city and believe this man could help us with our inquiries.

"Solving burglaries is a big priority for us, but so is preventing them from happening in the first place.

"That’s why I’d like to remind all students to make sure all their doors and windows are locked, and to be aware of people seeking to follow them through locked doors.

"Having a phone or a laptop stolen can be distressing for anyone, but for a student it could mean them losing important work as well."

If you have any information or know the man in the video call the police on 101 quoting incident number 380 of 3 May.
