Police trying to find injured man after suspect drives car into him and flees the scene

An investigation has been launched after a man drove into another man and fled the scene.

Police are asking the victim to come forward and help them with their enquiries into the incident in Newbiggin Hall.

Shortly after 11am on September 7, officers received a report of a disturbance at the car park attached to the Gala Fields in Newbiggin Lane.

It was reported that two men were walking through the car park when a Ford Fiesta drove in and struck one of them.

The driver of the vehicle then allegedly got out with a dog and chased the two men away.

He then got back into his car and left the area.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Officers are now investigating and are urging the injured man to get in touch with police.

"The man, or anyone with information, is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 113966b/19 or anonymously via Crimestopppers on 0800 555 111."
