Police treating death of young woman found in Kilmarnock house as 'unexplained'

Police are treating the death of a young woman found dead at house in Kilmarnock as unexplained.

The body of the 26-year-old female was discovered at a property in Campsie Road at around 4pm yesterday.

Cops say her death is being treated at unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding what happened.

Locals reported seeing a heavy police presence in the area at the time the woman was discovered.

One eyewitness told the  Kilmarnock Standard:  "There was a heavy police presence from about 4pm onwards.

"They were there for hours speaking to neighbours and looking to gather information."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received report of the sudden death of a 26-year-old woman at an address in Campsie Road, Kilmarnock, around 4pm on Tuesday, 29 September, 2020.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
