Police took a man home after finding him out during lockdown - ten minutes later he was back again

A man arrested for being out during lockdown left home again ten minutes after police took him home.

A 54-year-old man has been arrested for contravening the requirement as to the restriction of movement during an emergency period.

He is currently in police custody and is due to be quizzed by police about his actions later today.

Greater Manchester Police said the man was initially found in Stalybridge.

Officers gave him “advice” and even took him home.

But just minutes later the same man returned again.

A post on the GMP Tameside North Facebook page reads: “A 54 year old male has been arrested in contravention of the requirement as to the restriction of movement during emergency period. (Stalybridge)

“After giving the male advice and even taking him home, he decided to return back 10 minutes later.

“He is currently in custody awaiting an investigation.

“Thanks to our response colleagues who assisted us.
