Police to increase patrols in Trafford after 'several assaults' and surge in anti-social behaviour

Police are to increase patrols in Urmston following reports of several assaults.

Officers will pay ‘extra attention’ to Eden Square following a rise in anti-social behaviour in the area, MP Kate Green has said.

The Labour representative for Stretford and Urmston says she has been made aware of the issues and has contacted police.

She claims officers will up patrols in local parks and surrounding areas during the summer period.

It comes after a woman took to social media to report her sister being attacked by a gang in Golden Hill Park.

She claims her relative was followed from Eden Square before being "kicked repeatedly in the stomach, head and all over her body”.

The incident is believed to have happened on June 26.

Kate Green, Labour MP for Stretford and Urmston, said: “I'm aware of the problems with antisocial behaviour in Eden Sqare in Urmston, and have been in touch with the police.

“Several assaults are being investigated, and the police say they will be giving extra attention to Eden Square, the parks and surrounding areas, and increasing patrols in the area, during the summer period.

“I hope this will provide reassurance to the local community, and ensure that Urmston is kept safe.”
