Police thank public as missing Scots pensioner is found 'safe and well'

A pensioner who suddenly vanished from Peterhead causing people to worry has been found "safe and well", police have confirmed.

James Watson had gone missing from Copelandhill Crescent in the town early yesterday morning.

But officers in Aberdeenshire have now confirmed they have been able to trace the 83-year-old.

They thanked the public for their help.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We are pleased to confirm that James Watson, 83, reported missing from Peterhead this morning, has been traced safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who shared and responded to our appeal."
