Police tents in place outside house with CSI at scene as murder probe continues

Two police tents are in place outside a house in Mossley this morning as a murder investigation continues.

Crime scene investigators are working at a property on Riverside, where a man was tragically found dead on Sunday. Officers were first called to a 'concern for welfare report' at around 10.30am.

They discovered the body of a man aged in his 30s and launched a murder investigation. Detectives said they believe he may have been killed in a 'targeted attack'.

The victim - who police said was a dad - is thought to have died in suspicious circumstances. This morning, officers are continuing to work at the scene on Riverside.

Pictures show two police tents in place outside the front of a property. A section of the road has been taped off while forensic officers gather evidence.

Several police vehicles are stationed on the road. Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact police.

In a statement issued last night, Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Superintendent Jamie Daniels, said: "Following the initial stages of our investigation we now know that there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of this man and believe this may have been a targeted attack.

"While this enquiry is very much in its infancy and we are keeping an open mind, we would appeal to anyone with any information whatsoever to come forward and speak to the police. This man was someone’s son, someone’s partner, someone’s brother, someone’s father and we are determined to do all we can to find out who is responsible and bring them to justice.

"There will be an increase in officers in the local area while our investigation progresses through the evening and tomorrow. I would ask anyone with any information at all about this incident to please contact police as soon as possible."
