Police have ordered drivers to avoid major Ayrshire roads this afternoon.
Cops say that a closure of the A77 is causing huge queues to form on nearby routes.
The A77 is closed from Dutchhouse Roundabout at Monkton to Symington on the northbound carriageway.
Police said in a statement: "The A79 between Monktonhead Roundabout and Dutchhouse Roundabout in both directions is very busy with queues extending onto the A77 south bound from Symington and A77 northbound from Ayr.
"Please avoid the area.
"Traffic heading to Troon and Prestwick is advised to exit the A77 at Bellfield Interchange at Kilmarnock (A71) and then follow the A78.
"Closure is in place until Monday 31 May."
