Major haul of drugs and cash found in targeted bikie raid in Canberra

Police have raided a unit in Canberra's inner north and recovered a large sum of cash, ammunition, Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang clothing, and items associated with the sale and distribution of illicit drugs.

Officers from ACT Policing's Taskforce Invidia, which targets members of organised crime groups, and multiple Australian Federal Police specialist teams searched a unit in Braddon on Sunday morning, July 5.

"Drugs, cash and [outlaw motorcycle gang] branded items have been seized following the execution of a search warrant in Braddon yesterday," a police spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said there was no one in the unit when police arrived and as such there were no arrests or charges laid.

"Inquiries in relation to the residents of the unit are continuing," the police spokeswoman said.

ACT Policing says it seized $17,600 in cash, 15 rounds of 0.22 ammunition, clear bags containing methamphetamine, heroin, Bandidos merchandise (jersey and poster) and various other items associated with drug dealing.

Previously, The Canberra Times confirmed the Bandidos motorcycle club was the newest gang to set up an ACT chapter, while the Mongols and the Black Uhlans had a member each living in the territory.

Deputy Commissioner Scott Lee, the ACT's chief police officer had told this masthead Canberra was home to 43 outlaw motorcycle gang members, who were closely monitored by Taskforce Invidia and police intelligence.

Police have urged people with information about the sale and distribution of illicit drugs in the ACT to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
