Police tape off street after man rushed to hospital in 'serious condition'

Part of a busy Salford street has been taped off after a serious assault in the early hours of the morning.

A section of Swinton Hall Road, in Swinton, was cordoned off by officers earlier today (November 14) near to the Morrisons supermarket.

Greater Manchester Police says officers were first called out to the scene at 1am following reports of an assault.

Following initial enquiries, police believe that a group of five men could have been involved in the attack, which left a man needing hospital treatment.

He was rushed to hospital in a serious condition, GMP says.

Anyone with information about the incident is now being urged to come forward as police continue their investigation.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Called at 1am to a report of an assault on Swinton Hall Road, Salford.

"A man's been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"We believe a group of five men may have been involved and are conducting enquiries including CCTV."

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the police cordon near Morrisons this morning, with officers still working at the scene at around lunchtime.

The cordon was lifted earlier this afternoon.

GMP says any information about the attack should be given online if possible, by visiting the force's website.

Alternatively, call GMP on 101, quoting incident number 184 of November 14, 2021.
