Police tape off section of Dumbarton Road after tiles fall from tenement block

Police have taped off a section of Dumbarton Road in Glasgow's west end after tiles from a tenement block fell onto the street.

Officers were called to the scene at 12.15pm today (Sunday) after receiving reports of tiles having falling from the block above The Wee Bakery at 602 Dumbarton Road.

The police cordon, which covers the pavement at the premises, remains in place 'for public safety'. The road remains open to traffic.

The incident comes with Storm Dennis having battered the UK, bringing high winds and a yellow Met Office weather warning to Glasgow. The warning remains in place until 11am tomorrow morning, with further strong winds expected this evening.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: "Police received reports of tiling having blown off the roof of a premises on Dumbarton Road, Glasgow, around 12.15pm on Sunday, February 16, 2020.

"A taped cordon has been put in place for public safety."
