Police tape off Glasgow street after woman knocked down in horror crash

A woman has been knocked down during a rush hour crash in Glasgow.

Police placed a large cordon in the area after the horror smash on Ballater Road at 5.15pm on Tuesday.

The road, in the Gorbals area of the city, remained closed on Tuesday night as cops continue their investigation.

The victim, who was struck by a vehicle in the crash, was raced to the Queen Elizabeth University by ambulance crews.

Her condition is unknown.

One witness, who didn't want to be named, told the Record: "The incident happened adjacent to Glasgow Club Gorbals.

"The road is shut off.

The pavements are all taped off.

"There's a big police presence and I saw an ambulance."

Video footage shows several police vehicles and a large police cordon.

Officers can be seen patrolling the taped off area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Record: "We were called to reports of a woman having being hit by a vehicle on Ballater Street at around 5.15pm today.

"Ambulance crews were also on the scene and the pedestrian has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"The woman's injuries are unknown at this stage."
