Police tape off area of Blantyre street after alleged assault

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man after an alleged assault in a Blantyre house this morning.

Locals awoke to find a heavy police presence at a block of flats on Burnbrae Road in the Lanarkshire town.

The area was also taped off sparking much speculation on social media.

Officers say a 41-year-old man and 41-year-old woman have been taken to hospital for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police received report of an assault within a property on Burnbrae Road in Blantyre around 3.45am on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

"A man and a woman were taken by ambulance to Wishaw General for treatment.

"A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with incident and enquiries are ongoing.
