Police take new look at 2005 Cooks Hill murder case

Roslyn Reay was found murdered at Cooks Hill in 2005.

Police have formed a new strike force to re-investigate the case of a woman found murdered at a Cooks Hill home almost 16 years ago.

Roslyn Reay was found with multiple stab wounds on the second floor of her home in Laman Street in March, 2005.

The Newcastle Herald reported at the time the 55-year-old had been stabbed at least 20 times. She had also been strangled.

Despite exhaustive investigations, no-one has ever been arrested over Ms Reay's murder.

Coroner Michael Morahan made an open finding regarding Ms Reay's death in 2008.

Police have now confirmed the case has been referred to the Unsolved Homicide Unit and is being re-investigated by Strike Force Oro 2.

"A formal review of the case is currently being conducted under the Homicide Squad's new unsolved framework," police said in a statement on Monday.

Investigators are urging anyone with information that could help lead to Ms Reay's killer to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
