Police tackle nuisance motorcyclists 'putting people at risk' in Ilkeston area

Officers are working to tackle nuisance motorcyclists after receiving reports of riders putting people at risk. On January 24, police community support officers (PCSOs) from the Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team put up warning signs to riders and drivers in the Mapperley Brook area of West Hallam.

PCSOs Miller, Hawksworth, Cooper and Clayton installed the signs, which inform people that vehicles can be seized by police if they cause distress, alarm or annoyance to members of the public. Officers have also warned that the footways in the area are not suitable for vehicles, and that riding and driving on these paths is putting people at risk.

PCSO Cooper said: "We have been patrolling this area and have put up signs warning anyone who decides to use a motorcycle in an inappropriate manner that they could have their vehicle seized and removed. We have been engaging with local residents while out and about and we have heard the same issues time and time again.
