Police swoop on Perth street after man hospitalised in alleged assault

Police are investigating an alleged assault in Perth which left one man needing hospital care.

Emergency services were called to Commercial Street, Perth this afternoon.

Cops arrested two people in connection with the alleged attack that took place around 2.50pm.

The pair are described by police as a man, aged 23, and a woman, aged 19.

Another 30-year-old man was rushed to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

Detectives been sealed off sections of the street as they carry out an investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police received a report of an assault having taken place in Commercial Street, Perth around 2.50pm on Saturday, 16 May, 2020.

"Emergency services attended and a 30 year-old man was taken to Ninewells hospital.

"A 23-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."
