Police were called to a Kilmarnock street following claims that a sex offender was staying in the area.
Cops were called to a protest in Cruachan Place in the town at around 6.20pm on Monday with abuse being shouted at a property.
A number of patrol cars and at least one van was on the scene as they dealt with a situation in the Bellfield area of town.
A large crowd gathered where Cruachan Place meets Whatriggs Road and Merrick Road – next to Whatriggs Primary School.
Officers attempted to disperse the crowd and an eyewitness reckons at least 50 to 100 people were around the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a protest in the Cruachan Place area of Kilmarnock at around 6.20pm on Monday, May 31. The gathering of people dispersed by around 7.25pm.”
