Police swoop on 15-year-old boy suspected of carrying out Crosby Beach knife attack

A 15-year-old boy is being quizzed by detectives over the Bank Holiday stabbing of a teenager on a Merseyside beach.

Teenage girls were reportedly left covered in blood after the 14 year-old boy was stabbed near the sand dunes at Crosby Beach on Good Friday.

The teenager suffered superficial wounds to his leg and stomach in what  police believe was a targeted attack , at around 5.45pm.

Merseyside Police has said the victim was " not co-operating with police".

Now police have confirmed they have arrested a 15-year-old boy from West Derby in connection with the April 19 knifing.

A Merseyside Police spokesman told the ECHO the 15-year-old had been arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of wounding.

The spokesman added: "He has been taken to a police station for questioning. Detectives are still asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to come forward if you haven't already done so.

The victim was treated at the scene and taken to hospital for assessment.
