A man has been accused of making hoax 999 calls claiming there was a gunman at a hotel.
Police received a series of reports that a man was wielding a firearm at a property in Manchester city centre yesterday.
No evidence of this was found and a St Helens man has now been charged with a malicious communications offence.

Stephen Wager was arrested after police units were scrambled to Dale Street in Manchester in response to a series of 999 calls.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police received multiple reports on the morning of Wednesday, December 15 of a man with a gun at a hotel on Dale Street, Manchester.
“Officers attended and there was no evidence of any offences being committed.
“Following enquiries, officers arrested a 25-year-old man nearby in the Piccadilly area.”
The force said Wager, of Manchester Row in St Helens, had been charged with a malicious communications offence and has now been bailed to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on February 1 2022.
